The price of coffee (and much more)

How much is the average wage now and how much has it been worth 10 years ago? - Part 15

The price of coffee (and much more)

We dealt with a sharing product last time, beer. Now we continue with the coffee that is also sharing because we know that after a more serious beer, the coffee will come in handy the next day. Unlike beer, we can now only compare the price of one type of product to that of 10 years ago, as only the Tchibo product was included in the then Auchan catalog.

According to the June 2011 Auchan catalog, 1 kg of Tchibo Family ground coffee beans cost HUF 1,699. Currently, the same product is available on sale for HUF 2199, but we are counting on the original price of HUF 2,749. Otherwise, we would not feel the comparison was correct.

In 2011, the average monthly net salary was HUF 140,332, for which we were able to buy 84 kg of coffee at that time. As we do not yet have more relevant data, we expect an average net salary of HUF 265,500 for the first 11 months of 2020, which is worth 97 kg of coffee in February 2021.

So we seem to be drinking more coffee from the average wage than 10 years ago.

The so-called. consumer basket is different for every person, family. A left-wing tactic is to deliberately highlight products whose prices have risen more drastically in a short period of time. Eg apples, meat. Of course, it is no longer reported when the price of products falls. As prices fluctuate, a short-term examination of snatched products suggests manipulation. As a result, we examine a wide variety of products spanning a ten-year period.
